We lug paintings around the world – running the risk of damaging them, of having them vandalized or stolen – to display them for people, who pass by saying “God, it’s so pretty; this hand is very well drawn, and there’s a little twinkle in the gaze.” They get nothing out of it. They’d get so much more if they had a painting done by their neighbor or their child. There are great paintings done by children. Until age six, most children are geniuses at painting. So all you need is a drawing on the wall made by a kid. You’ll get a lot more out of it than staring at the Mona Lisa.
